Inventory and Appraisals

Cost Share Forest Improvement Projects
As State and Federal CFIP, EQIP, FIP programs are funded, timberland owners may be eligible for partial funding for fuel reduction, reforestation, fire rehabilitation, and forest improvement projects. We prepare all the paperwork, and administer all phases of the projects.

Fuelbreaks
With the increasing expansion of residential areas into woodland settings, protection from wildland fires is becoming a top priority in California. We put together community fuelbreak, ridgeline fuelbreak, and individual landowner fuelbreak projects to reduce brush and dead fuel concentrations. Projects completed include dozer piling & burning, hand piling & burning,
tree thinning, brushfield mowing with mastication machines, and herbicide maintenance.

Logging Administration and Supervision
Upon approval of the THP, we arrange contracts with mills and contractors, and administer all phases of the harvest operation from the beginning through paying yield taxes and distributing IRS form 1099s. We help ensure harvest operations are in conformance with the Timber Harvest Plan and the Forest Practice Rules. Projects we have completed include tractor, cable, helicopter, and horse logging operations.

Forest Archaeology
Protection of historic and prehistoric sites is an important aspect of forest management. In nearly all cases where sites have been found on private property, protection measures can be developed to protect the sites and still manage the property for timber resources. Archaeological surveys, relocation of recorded sites, and preparation of site records for newly discovered sites are one of our specialties. Stewart Forestry received the CDF Golden Trowel Award in 1996 for archaeological excellence.

Expert Witness
For forestry related matters, we are available to provide expert witness and litigation support. This typically involves timber valuation in timber trespass cases.

Networking
We have a network of dedicated professionals in the following specialized fields to insure quality management of all projects: Geology, biological surveys, land surveying, computer modeling, Licensed Timber Operators in tractor, cable, and helicopter logging, herbicide advising and application, tree planting, hazard tree removal service, controlled burn prescriptions, attorneys.
